MEMBERS of Royal Crown Derby Rambling Club walked either nine or 18 miles in the Peak District to raise cash for hospital equipment.

The money will go to providing a head camera as a teaching aid at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester.

Members of Royal Crown Derby Rambling Club present Sue Duffin with a cheque for £1,170 after taking part in a walk to raise money for hospital equipment.

It comes after Allestree hairdresser Sue Duffin started the Head Camera Appeal. Sue had a diseased heart valve replaced at the hospital.

Just weeks after going under the knife, she set about organising a fund-raising ball to buy equipment for surgeon Giles Peek, in the cardiothoracic surgery department. It raised more than £23,000.

Rambling club leader Richard Birkin, of Brailsford, also had major bypass surgery at Glenfield last year.

Earlier this year, he noticed an article in the Derby Telegraph on Sue's plans to raise money for the camera and decided to back the cause. He decided that by way of this year's charity club walk, he also wanted to "say a big thank-you" to the hospital.

The club presented £1,170 to Sue, which will go towards the cost of the head camera.
